The mid-life update of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno has finally made its debut in India. The bookings for the same were already underway at Maruti’s Nexa dealerships at a token amount of INR 11,000. The new iteration of this premium hatchback now starts at INR 5.45 lakh with the top-spec trim going for INR 8.77 lakh for the petrol CVT (ex-showroom)
Details regarding the variant wise upgrades that the Baleno is going to receive with this mid-life update were leaked last week. Visually, the hatchback is going to get an all-new design for the front bumper. From the base variant onwards, in addition to Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorage points, one is going to get rear parking sensors as well as high-speed alert system and seat belt reminder for driver and passenger.
The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard for both the petrol as well as diesel derivative. The petrol derivative however is also going to get a CVT automatic gearbox. Contrary to expectations, we do not believe that Maruti is going to use its all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine in the facelifted Baleno in the future, neither in the BS-VI or the BS-IV guise.
